Step right up to Calder’s Circus! This week-long mini camp will explore artist Alexander Calder, specifically his beloved work, Cirque Calder, a handmade miniature traveling circus complete with animals, clowns and acrobats.

Just like Calder, we will compose our circus with simple kinetic features that allow some of our characters to move and perform, and we will use a variety of materials such as wire, wood, cloth, yarn, paper, cardboard, string, corks, and buttons to invent a detailed environment for our own characters, whether they are traditional circus performers, fantastical unicorns, monsters or whatever you so desire! Calder’s Circus is tons of fun for kids who love art and tinkering, animals and storytelling.
